[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In the far west of Victoria is the semi-arid Murray-Sunset National Park. Within it are the amazingly coloured Pink Lakes. The colour can vary a bit was on this visit I caught the lake at probably its pinkest. There are other pink lakes around some of which are mined for pink salt.
The pink is at its most intense after rain, due to fresh nutrients being washed into the lakes, which in turn trigger the growth of algae. At other times, the pink fades into a paler colour that is almost white.

Hi Ian,i seen something like that in Senegal with the best Pink Lake, once upon a time the arrive of the rally Paris-Dakar but not in the last years because terrorism. The colors are very bright, maybe one of the best moment of the effect made by the micro organisms in the salt water, very well done! Have a nice day and thanks,LUCIANO

Hi Ian,
I've never seen any pink lakes myself, I've just heard about them. So, first of all, thanks for posting a photo of one of them. Great composition of spectacular landscape. Probably a touch overexposed, at least there's a minimal loss of details on the white parts, otherwise a very interesting shot.
Kind regards from Ireland, Laszlo
