Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests. It is sometimes considered conspecific with the grey-breasted spiderhunter.

Excellent sharp detailed bird in this photo. The white background is not the most beautiful one, but the colours in the bird are very beautiful. Attractive pose.
