We left the beautiful Lake Hector and drove on over the unbelievably scenic Icefields Parkway. After a while we reached Peyto Lake, which also took our breath away. The Lakes in West Canada are really marvelous ...

From http://www.pigseye.com/mc/canada:

At the summit of Bow Pass (6849 feet or 2088m) on the Icefields Parkway is the path to the Peyto Lake overlook. This view is towards the north and the Mistaya Valley. Peyto Lake is the headwaters for the Mistaya River.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

Peyto Lake is a glacier fed lake located in Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies. The lake itself is easily accessed from the Icefields Parkway.

The source of the brilliant turquoise water of Peyto and other glacially fed lakes is “rock flour”. The glacier grounds up the rock, and the flour flows into the lake with the runoff. It absorbs all the colored light from the sun with the exception of the blue-green which is reflected creating the surreal color of the water.

wauuu fantastic landscape :o)

Pieter, the scenery in Canada looks spectacular, I must know these places. All of these shots would have be enhanced by a Grey grad filter and I know you will purchase. This is a very nice capture with an unusual composition which is not the norm and because of that I like it. Again the trees frame the shot. 7/10 Well done.

Fantastic landscape! The colours are beautiful and the lake is incredible!

Another amazing view of this majestic countryside, Pieter!

An excellent composition, great colors, lighting and POV.

Snow capped trees in the foreground frame this shot well.

Nice job, thank you.

Colour of the water really is amazing and makes all photo look quite unreal. The snow on trees and mountains add something special too.
Overall, it's exceptional shot.
I like it very much.

Beautiful landscape, this picture really keeps the eye busy looking at the different layers of the trees, lake, mountain & sky. Great shot! Paul :)

Hello Pieter!
This place must be really amazing because photo is MARVELLOUS.

I am really enjoying your series from Canada. The place is surreally beautiful (unlike Montreal last week, LOL!) although I am sure that would be beautiful in good weather.

My only nit? You spelled turquoise wrong, LOL!!

Hi Pieter, this is a fantastic landscape. Brilliant colours and lighting. An excellent sharpness, a great composite. TFS.

Breathtaking Pieter. I want to go to Canada!!! Almost unreal colours, especially lake. Weird shapes of mountains, they looks like floating between sky and lake. Extremally beautifull place!

Hi Pieter,
Very nice water color
Beautiful landscape
The sky is also very PHOTOGENIQUE ! ;-)

Stunning capture Pieter,
How could you leave this place, it looks absolutely amazing.
Great colours, POV and detail. Using a filter would make this a truly incredible shot. Excellent post Pieter.
Enjoy the rest of the week

great composition!

Hi Pieter,

Beautiful view and well seen. Excellent shot and well done on the compo. I like the "Au Naturelle," without color filters. If used it would taken away the beauty and wouldn't look natural. This is the true North colors Of Canada and you did my Country proud. Excellent work my Viking Friend. :) :)
I would allow a C. Polarizer to enhance the clouds and sky. :)

Hi Pieter, another beautiful scene. The mountains look so close, but quite unreal. Unusual look to them with the snow showing the different levels and textures. The trees in the FG look good, and the brilliant turquoise of the water is superb. Well done.

Hi Pieter, wow! you certainly get about!

Excellent shot, looks like a postcard, I think you can be very proud of this one. The colours are superb, especailly the water and the view is stunning.

Very well done.

Hi Pieter,

I have just discovered this photo; it is really a great one. Details, lines, colors are excellent. I really would like to be there.

Thanks for sharing

I can't understand how I didn't critique this one earlier.
It has a magical, almost unreal quality to it. I think it's because of the turquoise water and the matching sky. An awesome sight, lucky you for being there.
Well done.

Hi, Pieter.
Wonderful landscape. Majestic mountains and river with fantastic colors. Well composed and excellent exposure.

Hi Pieter,
Ok, my list of places to visit just got longer :-) This is beautiful, the lake doesn't look real (I know it is though, the mineral deposits I believe make it that colour). Nicely composed with the taller tree and peak to the left, excellent exposure (I think that is pretty tricky here). Beautiful detail too, excellent shot.
