American Bald Eagle
Haliateetus leucocephalus

Range: Bald eagles, a type of sea eagle, is found throughout North America with large populations existing in Florida and Alaska.

Habitat: Their preferred habitat are areas found around lakes, rivers, freshwater marshes, swamps and along shorelines.

Diet: Bald eagles prey upon ducks, seabirds, fish, rabbits, squirrels, rats and sometimes carrion.

Reproductive Behavior: Male and female mate for life. They have several courtship behaviors while in flight. The most spectacular of these consists of locking talons in mid-air and descending several hundred feet in a series of somersaults.

Special Features: Eagles reach sexual maturity by age five to seven years, at which time they lose the dark, juvenile feathers on the head and tail and replace them with white plumage.

This one is called Liberty and today it certainly had a lot to say for itself, i captured this shot at the Liberty Raptor Centre in Ringwood. The centre is named after this bird.

I did a w.s. for you.

Hello Michael,
Good POV, perfect light and framing - but I also like Mike's WS - brings out even more details of a great shot.

Regards
Terry.

Nice capture Michael,
Good colour, detail, sharpness and timing.
Nicely composed, thanks for posting.

This is very sharp with a captivating eye Michael. Maybe a little to much space in the compo to the top right but it's still very good.

Awesome!!!Well composed and presented IMO....
Brilliant shot!!!

Beau portrait de ce rapace, le regard est très lumineux et l'éclairage est superbe.

Félicitations pour la netteté.

Hi Michael,
An excellent portrait on this eagle. The pose is awesome. Detail is very sharp here. The filtered light is very dramatic. Excellent!

Excellent portrait Michael. A striking composition that stands out very well against this BG. Very good open mouth pose/expression. Very good sharpness, detail and a great effect with the filtered light.
Very well done & Thank You.

Dramatic and bold portrait of this magnificent eagle, Michael!

I love the intense look in the eye, the colors and lighting are perfect, POV and BG are great.

The only thing I might have changed (and it is a matter of personal preference) is the yellow/orange in the frame, pehaps slightly paler, so that it doesn't compete with the bird's beak.

A minor nit.

Fantastic job, thank you.

Hi Michael,
this is marvelous, wonderful colours and excellent sharpness and well framed.
