Ploceus Velatus

These birds are about 15cm in length. This photo was taken in our backyard and there are about 7 nests. There are some little ones at the moment and I am trying my best to get a photo while the mother are feeding the babies.

These are seed-eating birds with rounded conical bills, most of which breed in sub-Saharan Africa, with fewer species in tropical Asia. The males of many species are brightly coloured, usually in red or yellow and black. Weavers get their name from the large woven nests many species make.

Great shot of this Vitelline Masked Weaver (?) on top of his nest. Interesting POV of bird and nest. Sharp details and good colors. Well done and TFS. : )
