The Magellanic penguin (Spheniscus magellanicus)was a sight I looked forward to in my last trip and that took me all the way somewhere between Tierra del Fuego and northern Antarctica in a place called Isla Martillo where a colony of penguins was starting to show up for their yearly mating rituals, the quite exhausting but incredible journey was all worthed: from camp to Land Rovers, then rafts down southern Tierra del Fuego then a Russian boat the a Zodiac raft to the island.
This specimen here was part of the first wave, at the time of me being there were no more than 100 - 150 individuals max, however that all changed by now in two weeks, probably way above two thousands are filling the air with their characteristic sounds similar to a burro, hence their other name, the jackass penguin...
They are adorable creatures somehow clumsy on land but as soon as they touch sea that all changes they quickly become something more of a rocket propeler.
A zodiac raft took me all the way to the shore but acces was forbiden on land so all pictures I took were from a not so stable rubber boat. Still I enjoyed being there so much I voted the place as one of the top places of my heart.

A great shot of this little explorer. The backdrop is amazing.

Great note, Radu.

A wonderful shot of this penguin and mountain peak in the BG.

Considering the shot was taken from a "not so stable rubber boat", details are sharp and colors are lovely.

Good POV and lighting.

Well done, TFS.

Radu, great title in this very nice and suggestive picture. After all, he really seems to be facing the Arctic. Lovely colors and pov.

Good capture Radu! It's nice to see the animal in his natural environment. Good colors and nice details. Thanks for sharing!

Hello Radu, thatīs an excellent capture. Great composition and nice sharp details. Excellent POV and great note too. Very well done.

This shot look a bit less unnatural, but quite amazing too. Penguin in mountains on a green grass. I've never seen anything like that before, but I like it very much.
