Cheile Turzii - Turda's Gorges, are one of the most spectacular canyon-like geological form from Romania.
They appeared as a result of perpendicular erosion of the river Hasdate on Petresti Hill Range, a limeston extension of nearby Apuseni Mountains.Cheile Turzii are like a funnel narrowing down gradually, with walls of 250m in height, arranged in steps and layered with wide grassy strips.
The gorges are of an immense morphologic variety: ridges, fossils, caves, fossils, towers, arcades formed by the riverís attempts to penetrate the limestone mountain.
Several species of rare flora and fauna are located here, some of them in unique locatiun in Europe (Alium obliqum - a kind of wild onion with usual areal in ... Turkmenistan, as an example). For its biological unicity and landscaping, Cheile Turzii was declared a natural monument.

I took this shot at aprox 4 P.M., right before the sunset.

Hi Petru!
It's amazing place! You know we visited Romania last spring and my friend Ola prepared long speach about Turda' Gorges!
You have great country!

Hello Petru,
Wonderful composition, I'm impressed by your landscapes! The diagonal lines make your capture very dynamic and pleasing to look at, and the lighting to the right side is very beautiful... Good colours and details, the snow adds some spice
Regards,
Pablo -

Petru,
The sun on the mountain looks wonderful with the light dusting of snow.
Is there a trail through the gorge?

Thanks,
Dave

Hello Petru,
Thank you so much for the very nice landscape from the land of beauty - actually I have not been yet to that region.
I like this diagonal composition, wonderful evening light6 but mot of all I like the pattern that the snow added to the trees and rocks.
Great shot!
Best greetings,
Michal
