Large Tree Nymph (Idea leuconoe)

FAMILY: Nymphalidae

LOCATION: Thailand to Malaysia, the Philippines and Taiwan.

HABITAT: Tropical forest, coastal, and swamps.

The picture of this butterfly (which is the same butterfly as my 1st post on TN) was taken in the Crystal Garden Conservation Center in Victoria, BC.

The Crystal Garden Conservation Centre has closed. It was located in the historic Crystal Garden Building behind the Fairmont Empress Hotel. The Crystal Garden originally contained the world’s largest indoor saltwater pool which operated from 1925 to 1967. In 1980 the Crystal Garden Building re-opened as a conservation centre. The Crystal Garden Building will now undergo structural and seismic upgrading and re-open with a brand new use in 2006.

Hi Stephan,
very good picture with nice colours and good POV.
The details are good, pity that the left wing is OOF.
Well done.

Wonderful photo, composition and technically wise! Thanks for sharing - Xplorator Radu

Hi Stephan, you have a good one here, considering he takes up the whole screen. I like the colours of the butterfly and the colourful BG too. Well shown, thank you.

Wonderful shapes it has!

Hi Stephan,
Very colourful picture!
Sharp image, great details,
beautiful butterfly.
Well done!

Hi Stephan,
A very nice shot on this butterfly. The colors are very well saturated and beautiful. Detail looks good, just a little shallow on the DOF. The OOF backround really makes him stand out.

Superbe Stephan,

j'aime bien les détails du corps et des ailes. Dommage que l'aile de gauche soit un peu floue mais em même temps, ça met de l'emphase sur le corps et le détails de la tête.

Imagine avec une lentille macro! ;)

Bravo!

Hi Stephan,
Good detail and colours. Great POV and sharpness.
Nicely composed and good exposure.
Thanks for posting. Enjoy the rest of the week.

Nice capture of this beautiful butterfly I like how it fills in the frame, it would be nice to see a shot with the full DOF on the buttterfly. Is the cool orange background from incandescent lighting? :)

Hi Stephan. Very good shot. Great POV and very good details. Excellent colours. Thanks for sharing.

Well done under unfavorable light conditions and ISO 1600 Stephan. Good detail and open-winged display. Thank you.
