[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I took this photo on New Year's Eve in Pensacola Beach, Florida. Our friends live on the Gulf of Mexico which has the most beautiful, fine white sand. It is especially clean now because Hurricane Ivan last year threw up tons of new sand on the beach. I came across this pretty little shell at sunset and decided to try a macro. The three little lines on the left side of the picture are a bird's footprint. This was the last sunshine we saw as it became incredibly cloudy and foggy the next morning. I'll post a picture of that tomorrow. Happy New Year!

Nice work, Alli. The sand looks like the light, powdery snow we're more apt to see here in the Midwest -- although the snow this year has been more wet and heavy, and is mostly gone just now. But I digress :) The image is simple, sharp in the focal area, effective, well-framed. Nice composition

Wow, nice pattern, well placed subject and a good exposure. (Usualy for lot of beach shots it goes sand + sun = overexposure. Not in your photos.)

Regards, Petru

I first thought this was snow Alli, but no, it is stunning white sand! Nicely composed with your shell placed just right. TFS

Hi Alli,
What a great place to spend New Years Eve, The Beach! A simple and artistic composition. The best sand in Florida is up along the panhandle area. Beautiful!

Excellent captured moment!

Hi Alli,
This is a fantastic shot, nicely done.
Good detail and colours. Great POV and sharpness.
Nicely composed and good exposure.
Thanks for posting. Enjoy the rest of the week.
If I had space in my favourites, this would be in there.

Nice work. I love the natural light and the shadows it created. The sand looks alot like snow. Your focus is right on and the f/2.8 worked well here. Happy New Year and best wishes to you and your wonderful family.
