The mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight. Quite a controversial tune, and one known by most. Disney Studios has recently been sued for using it. The tune was by a SA guy from the disadvantaged population, as they are referred to. Nearly 60 years are in the making of this claim of the “tune being stolen”. However that fight is going, here we have a young male lion, engaged in one of their favourite past times, that of sleeping, or nearly there anyway. I have previously written about Flat Cats – this one is on his way to that stage of the day where he will pass out and sleep for up to 20 hours non-stop. Lions are lazy, and can sleep for log periods when they are properly fed. Lions are no fun sleeping the hours away. We never stay long, unless some real action is about. This one is a bit thin across the ribs, as we say, so in need for some food shortly.
This is one in a series of 10 pictures catching the complete sequence of the yawn, from inception to conclusion.
Nikon F100 and trusty old Sigma 120-300 F2.8 lens with 2X converter, beanbags on car window, 600 mm focal length, F8 and the rest is misty history. Shot in KNP sometime in 2003.
Blame Japie, he sent me the owllet and broke my concentration in marking scripts, so I hve to post something. I am still snowed under until the end of the month so cannot get to TN.

This youngster remind me of my kids - very difficult to wake up and when they do, they spend the next half an hour yawning!

Beautiful capture and it looks like it has been taken early morning. The exposure is good and the sharpness is great, especially considdering the lens train in front of the camera.

I like the border and writing.

Thanks for posting

Mmmm, heerlijke foto!
