Ceibo or Coral Tree (Erythrina crista-galli)

By national decree of December 2 to 1942, the Flower of Ceibo was declared National Flower Argentina... I wished to share these 3 images of this wonderful flower with all the TN friends.

In the Workshop1, can see another image with a set of open and closed flowers, and Workshop2 can see the complete tree totally flowery.

It belongs to the families of the leguminous.
Gorgeous tree when it is in flowering, provided with stings.
Exceptionally It can reach the 20 meters of height and one of diameter in the trunk.

The Trunk
The stalk is simple, ligneous; it is a tree whose ramify trunk to several meters of the ground.
There are some are ramify from the base, in this case have the aspect of shrubs.

The cup of the tree is not very dense.
During the winter the plant is without leaves and the branches that are born in spring are green with leaves and flowers.

The Leaf
It can get to measure 30 cm.
His petiole is long and its lamina is divided in three parts.
It is a compound leaf.

The Flower
It blooms at different times according to the region, at the beginning of October, see ceibos bloomed in the northern provinces. They are born grouped in the green branches, that is to say, the formed ones in the season.

The Fruit
It is a long scabbard and bending, dry, flat that it approximately has between 10 and 20 cm. in length and of 2 to 3.5 cm. wide where 2 to 6 seeds lodge.
These are of kidney-shaped form of dark brown color.

Fiore stupendo come l'Argentina! Non ci sono mai stato...
Bella immagine tecnicamente perfetta, i colori forti aiutano a definire la bellezza di questo fiore!

Great shot except the flash reflection, I like it.

Red-black compositions always looks superb. I like this shot very, very much.

Very good macro Ricardo.
I like this very much.
Great colours and sharpness.
Very good and informative note,
Excellent work.

Beautiful tree. How cold does it get in winter in Argentina?

What a nice tree to have as a national tree, Ricardo. I know them well. This is a great composition. I tried the same a week ago but could not get a suitable composition like this. Very well seen and taken.

Judging by the pistil, it seems like someone is giving you the finger, perhaps meant for a neighbouring country (forgive my impertinent thoughts but I tought it was funny, am I the only one that sees that)? Interesting cheeky flower!

A very nice shot and with excellent composition.
Lovely rich colours and texture, great DoF.
Great job,well done.

Its great to see another South American flower. Great detail on the main shot and the workshop extras are a very good addition. I think its always useful to see the plant as a whole as well as the detail of the flower and or fruit. Well done.

Ricardo, Well I guess it's time to post some of my flower shots & enter the competition! Great compostion & detail especially on the stamen itself. The reds seem to be saturated perfectly. Well done - Again!!
