We are supposed to have winter now in my part of the world… But the last couple of weeks have been far from winter like! Temperatures range around 5-10 C, and the snow is gone… Is this a possible effect from global warming?

This image was taken a few days ago, showing how the ice on the river is breaking up… mostly due to flooding after quite heavy rain. This is supposed to happen in March in my place, not now! Notice the lack of colours in nature, everything is grey or brownish…

Hello Pablo this is excellent photo I like the way you capture the river wiyh the ice TFS regards Stavros

Well, we got enough winter here for you too.
Even this is a much southern country, the Siberian frost reached us like two weeks ago and doesn't want to go. We expect this week (again) minus 20 celsius.
I like the composition and the faded (few) colours. It suppose to be everything grey or brownish, with some white too in this time of the year. Isn't it?

Regards, Petru

wow,
great perspective and moment!
I like the colours, composition and details!

Hi Pablo, yes, I did notice how brown everything is. Strange weather patterns in some places all around the world. Good composition, and very interesting to see. TFS

Hello Pablo, well I don’t know if it is global warming, but the weather is changing for sure. I am in the other part of the world, and can tell you that have an idea how warm the hell must be. This composition really speaks for itself. The ice blocks create a nice pattern and texture. Very well exemplify. Regards, Gabriel

Hi Pablo!
We seldom have such ice-movements on the rivers, but I think it is a happy time when this happens because it promices a nice spring ahead. I myself do not worry about global warming, because I'd not mind a couple of degrees warmer climate - this would save millions of tons of fuel being burnt each winter, and reduce polution, respectively;)))
Anton

Pablo,
Nature does not know if it is FEBRUARY or MARCH.
It does what comes naturally. Often, "fixing" our ills.

Great image. A great register for posterity showing how "DUMB" we, their ancestors, had been to cause this uncalled for global warming ... all because of greed for money, and more money which we cannot take with us once we leave this station of life.

Congratulations.
Mario.

Hi Pablo,

Yes, it could be global warming causing the situation seen in your photo. It is affecting a lot of countries. A nice scenery of the river covered with broken ice and of the mountain in the background. The point of view is giving a sense of depth to the photo and is showing a lot of details. Thanks for sharing. Happy New Year 2008.

Pierre
