[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A female Common Brown (Heteronympha merope), with a wingspan of around 65mm. This is a common butterfly through the woodlands and forests of south-eastern Australia. This one was found in moist eucalypt forest near rainbow falls in Macquarie National Park.

The females of this species prefer to spend the summer in cool shady gullies, while males tend to spend time defending territories in the hope of attracting a female. One generation is produced per season. Larval fool is a mixture of perennial and annual grasses.

Hello Chris,
been immediately attracted from the thumbnail by that beautifully composed portrait of a pretty Common Brown. Colours are deliciously soft and rich, like a painting. Composition is very well balanced. The fern is an impressive stage for the sitting beauty. Sharp details. Getting both the left and the right wings sharp with that pose from that point of view is a technical masterpiece and looks like a miracle to me. Very good contribution. Thank you!

Hi Chris,
he colors in this photo really stand out. Your fill flash exposure really looks great. I love the green ferns and then it goes to the very dark backround. Compositionand framing are flawless. Nice work!
