There is a thing which I wish deeply, that all the beings living can preserve their natural environment, a long time, a long time, a long time. There are not other paradises except that which we discover at the turning of a path in forest, at the top of a mountain, sat in a field or on the shore of a marsh, a lake or an ocean. Why so many amazements by hearing the song of a bird, the murmur of a brook, the rustle of a breeze in the foliage of the trees, by contemplating an aurora borealis...? Because we forgot that we come from these things, in them we grow and to them we go back. I learned being young that the most important things in life are not things. One of them is called Harmony. It is a very important thing. A natural environment is full of it.

Hello Luc, no words to describe this photo!

The stone, the bird with the same shape and color, the number of stones, the hole among them filled with the bird,... this way to transform water in a rear new liquid/gas phase. It's the bird an embodiment of one of these stones, resting before the photo in the same place?
And, indeed, you have make visible with a shot the better perception and concept of humman being about Nature|Harmony.
I'll hope too that natural environment last. But... we have so much intelligence that we can make even digital cameras to trap what we are destroing. What part of our brain (as species) take care of the local paradises?

Thank Luc for photograph the Nature and to use words in the right path.
(PS. Sorry for the mistakes in writing/spelling)

Emmanuel

Great shot Luc,
Good detail, colours and very sharp.
Composition is good. Good POV and good use of the longer exposure. Your notes give out a great message, thank you Luc.
Thanks for posting, have a great weekend.

Words fail to describe the appeal in this picture; and I don't mean it in terms of its technical or aesthetic excellence. It truly is an illustration of what you have put so poetically in your intensely meaningful note.
Thanks for making my day, Luc!

An impressive picture, i like the colors and the sharpness is good. Choosing the shuttertime of 1 sec. gives the water a nice, almost milky looking. Weel done and thanks.

Hi Luc,
wow, this is so unreal, like in another world.
I love the silky-effect here so much.
Wonderful shot, thanks

Bon matin Luc,

Some things never change do they but the more you see of this guy you post , the more I like it.

Hi Luc,
Amazing photo with the slow exposure and the luck that the Heron didn't move an inch. I'll take of my hat for this shot. It's added to my fav's immediately!

Merci.

beautiful composition!! excellent work.

What a stunning picture. Only a heron could stay that still, that long to be able to produce that effect with the water and still have a sharp heron.

Fantastic.

------------------
Hi Luc, beautiful picture, but do I have a doubt, With the such low speed of the obturator, with that the time of larger exhibition of the photographed "objects", do I ask you... as it got to maintain the immobile bird?
A great hug and I await answer... =o)

Luc!
As greg always says... you are master of water!
We tried to do similar photos but... looking at your shots I won't try :-)

Great scene and colours, wonderful effect with the flowing water, the intense stare of the bird in opposite direction to the water flow creates additional tension and an interesting contrast between the bird's concentration and the easygoing flow.

Gabi

Oooohhh waht a nice photo, kongratulation for your photos

Hi Luc, I missed this one a couple of days ago, its a stunning picture. Well done. THe lightning is almost magical. Well done, congratulations Reina

Hi Luc,
I have missed this great shot until now.
The water is beautiful in it's softness and colour.
The long shutterspeed really pays of here, but
I think you have trained the heron to stand still;-)
The composition are very good withe the heron perfect placed in the frame, Good details and POV.
Excellent work, young brother.

sorry about the ice hockey last night.

bonjour luc

Gorgeous shot Luc, I like everything about this beautiful capture, very inspiring. :)

Hello Luc! Wonderful words, beautifully expressed! The shot is exquisite, marvellous earth tones, lovely setting. Great focus on the heron to bring out the subtle tones on the feathers, lovely softness on the rest of the composition. One of your best, I think! Linda

Hi Luc
I ask myself, "Now what do one say, as a late comer, after such a long, long, list of accolades?"
Since reading your notes I really felt like silence could be appropriate....
Silence to ponder upon the words spoken so truly,
Silence to acknowledge the dire realities,
Silence to look inward and ask what can I do?
Silence to take a moment and overcome my sadness
Silence to believe in the path to be taken.

But alas, after all this "silence" it still remained a “great heron”, and a beautiful river, full of rocks with character, and the fact remains, it was brilliantly captured.
Regards
Loot

Wow, it held perfectly still for one second! Great shot, I love the effect of the water around the bird. Well done!

This is a great technique you have developed Luc. I have tried this once here, without success.

Great composition and sharpness on the heron. the blurred water really is quite good.

Hello Luc, very ethereal shot. Has a unwordly feel to it. I amazed you got that amount of blur in the water and that amount of detail in the heron in one second! Very well done.

What a great composition! I like how you captured the bird, unaware that it was being watched! The colours are simply amaizing! They all look alike, but all the things are so clearly distinguished from each other.

I have a question: I guess that the bird is surrounded by water but I was wondering whether I got that right, or it's an effect of the aurora borealis?

thanks,
marina

Hello Luc,
This is another in your great series of...
dis-embodiments ;-}} So how many times can we be embodied...until we get it right? :-}
Very well done.

Luc this shot is great.
Well done.

Salut Luc!

Beautiful shot with the longer exposure excellent colour, POV, detail and lighting
Regards,
Eyal.

Absolutely magical Luc - a frozen moment in time, so perfectly captured. Exposure, DOF, sharpness, composition, colour, POV and comment, all brilliant and totally harmonious!
Your lens certainly reflects your words. Thanks Luc

Hi,

Great Blue Heron is my favourite bird too and I have taken shots of them several times. The interesting point about these series of your shots is that you used the motionlessness of the bird against the flow of the river to create the nice water effect.
