The Brown pelican is easy to spot in Florida. They hang around fisherman's warfs and spend a large part of their day pruning their feathers. This one was taken in flight in front of a perfect blue sky. Given his head feather, this is an adult. It is however impossible to differenciate males from females apart from their sizes, males being of course the bigger ones. Young ones have yellow feathers. With a wing span of about 2 meters, you better not use your zoom too fast, you may lose some feathers.
