Clear details, nice colors, sharpness, POV and composition are marvelous. Well done. Congratulations...
Pleased to meet you. Over the past year, before I joined TN as a member, I have noticed the name 'Elroyie' in many a fine photo and here I am doing my first critique on one such brilliant photo. It is a great honour.
This shot definitely rates as a WOW. The simple though very impressive composition provides great impact. The colours are absolutely stunning, the DOF is perfect with excellent details, the BG is superb, and the exposure is spot-on.
Fabulous work and TFS.

this is a beautful bird and it's on my wishlist to get a decent shot of it. It's a common bird up here but anyhow I always missed it;-(
I agree with you about the BG, no cloning.
Well composed, good POV, lovely colours and good details.
The shallow DOF is very nice.

A very nice capture of this goldfinch. In Holland we call them "Putter" or "Distelvink". I find them very beuatiful to see, you see them often in groups very busy to thake seeds out of the flowers. Colors are beautiful and ik like the POV. Thanks.

Very nice shot well done
I added two photos of yours (this and another one titled "The last drop... full frame") to my favorites a long time ago with the intent to come back later and do a proper critique. Unfortunately I forgot about them and today when I reviewed my favorites I discovered your uncriticized pictures so here I am to apologize and make it up with you. I'm really sorry for what happened!
Here's my critique:
The first thing that attracted me on this picture was the wonderful and simple composition, the clean profile silhouette and the excellent separation from the background! The background must have been pretty far behind since it is so blurred even at f/8.
I think the thistle behind looks good and is necessary for the composition. If you took it out the composition would have become too centered if not cropped. I like the workshop too! As far as it concerns the high ISO setting, I had no idea about it, if it weren't for your note. The noise is barely noticeable.
Although the light was pretty high in the sky there are no harsh shadows on on the goldfinch. You did a very good job with the exposure and also captured a very nice catchlight in the subject's eyes! Overall a very good posting with a brief and useful note. Thank you for sharing!
With Friendly Regards,
