[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Merten’s Water Monitor (Varanus mertensi) is a medium sized monitor with a total length of around 1.1 metres. They live along the edges of watercourses and lagoons through tropical northern Australia. As its name suggests they are highly aquatic and feed on a range of small terrestrial vertebrates, frogs and fish. The can remain submerged for many minutes. Breeding takes place from October with hatching occurring from December to February; 10-14 eggs are laid.
We found this one at Berry Springs.

In the workshop is a frontal view (of poorer quality) that better illustrates the laterally compressed nature of the tail, which of course aids in swimming. Slightly cropped from original and slightly sharpened

Otra excelente presentacion de un imponente reptil.
Buena perspectiva (con el complemento de la segunda foto, aunque no es de la misma calidad) con agradables detalles en su piel y buena agudeza.
Me agrada la combinacion de colores entre el animal y su entorno.
