[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The tiger beetle, Cicindela campestris, is a speedy hunter, chasing other insects. Its carnivorous larvae are living in vertical pits in sandy ground, lurking for some appetizing prey to pass by, catching them with their long jaws.
This beetle was not that speedy as temperatures were quite low this last weekend of April, so I could photograph it with ease.
Photo taken with the 50mm Sigma macro lens, on my D70 Nikon body. Built-in flash used, power set manually, in combination with a plastic diffusor sheet, atop of the lens. Camera was steadied against the Manfrotto removable sliding plate.
Camera settings:
size/quality : large, Jpeg fine ; Sharpness +1 ; iso [email protected] ; white balance : flash
PP done with Photoshop7, levels, USM filter, burn tool.
Thanks for looking :-)
