Hi Peter,
Great photo with known techniques. You must study the manual ver and over and make a laboratory at home to tame a high tech. camera :). My disappointment was so big with my camera that almost returned it.

Firstly, thanks for the very interesting note. I enjoyed reading about your experience in Hades and how the old camera proved to be the trusty one. However, I am sure we will soon see the results of the new camera, as you learn to apply the 'high-tech' magafters.
The photo is more than just 'quite ok'. It is excellent with a lovely composition and POV. The colours are stunning and so are the details. The BG is well OOF and the lighting/exposure was well controlled.

Excellent depth of field that keeps the whole butterfly in perfect focus but blurrs the background notably. Vibrent colours and awesome patterns on the wings. Marvellous photos of butterflies - and this one looks much more exotic than I expected to find in Austria. We have very few butterflies in Sweden nowadays. I do not know why and I miss them.

I do not know what you think about light or heavy photo equipment but you manage to create fantastic shots with help of any camera you hold in your hands. This shot is the best proof of this statement. Simply terrific details of the entire butterfly and flower. Colours as well as BG are amazing. Pictured scene is sweet and POV is brilliant.
