Tulsa Zoo.

If you look close at the baby girl, you can see her dried umbilical cord still attached. She is 3 now and I mistake her for momma until we see them together.

The giraffe is related to deer and cattle, but is placed in a separate family, the Giraffidae, consisting only of the giraffe and its closest relative, the okapi.

The species name camelopardalis (camelopard) is derived from its early Roman name, where it was described as having characteristics of both a camel and a leopard (and perhaps being a hybrid of the two)

Cropped and sized for upload.

Nikon EL-2, 50mm nikkor, lens f/stop 2.8, Portra 400 film, shutter speed on auto.

hi randy, what a special moment! :-)
a giraffe mom with her newborn baby.
itīs amazing, the neck of mom is almost as
long as the baby altogether. *g*
good composition and pov,
too bad the photo is a bit faded and noisy.
well seen & done, thor.

Hi Randy
Nice composition. Good colours and POV.
Well done

osse

There's an amazing sentiment shown here. I really like it.
I'm not sure about the straight on POV, but regardless, it is a nice option. I think I would have chosen an angle more from the right. A tad over exposed. I'll try a colour touch up in Adobe.
Regards,
Kelley

Dear Randy,
I am afraid, your baby giraffe is a bit out of focus. I assume you took the photo too slow.
For interest I add your work to my theme "Juveniles". The saturation also needs a to be increased , and the photo sharpened.

Thanks for sharing.
Warm greetings from the Tzaneen Dam in Limpopo, South Africa
Ingrid
