[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is an egret (I think) that was standing near a pond in O'Fallon, Missouri. If anyone can tell me what kind of bird it is for sure, I'd appreciate it. A second after I snapped the shot (zoomed in on it) the bird took off flying. I tried to capture him in flight, but he was too fast for me to refocus. He had a very large wing-span.

Nice picture

Hi Joy,
I like the composition and the pose you captured. Did you do a lot of post processing? I think less saturation/contrast and/or sharpening might be better. There is a bit of a reddish cast. Agree with "gjoess": it's a great blue heron in breeding plumage.
