[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Cerura vinula - family Notodontidae.

In my opinion it's one of the most beautifull Notodontidae in Europe. Very large moth - the wingspan is up to 90 mm. The colours on the wings are used to mask the moth - it's not easy to find it in nature ;-)
You can find this attractive moth in May and June in mixed forests, parks or even on trees on roads borders.

The caterpilar is also wonderfull and amazing. Unfortunatelly I don't have good pictures of it but you can found some funny pictures on my website European Butterflies and Moths. Older caterpilars have something like a face with eyes - it looks really great. Two tails at the end of caterpilar body can straighten the predators.

Hi Chris,
Very good presentation, with very matching colours and an interesting subject. Iparticularly like the diagonal framing. A narrower aperture setting would have improved the DOF [I think]

A beautiful shot. Excellent exposure, fantastic lighting, the background really adds some wow to the shot. Great detail and colours, excellent framing/composition. Really a great shot.
