Ostrich (Struthio camelus) Volstruis

The ostrich is a very large bird – the largest living bird. The height of the male can be up to 2m. The bird is flightless.
The male is mostly black with white wings and buff, white or rufous tail. The female is brownish grey. The neck and legs are very long. Neck is nearly naked and bristly.
Iris is hazel, bill brown and legs are grey.

Distribution: Mainly in the western regions of Southern Africa North of the Orange River. Zimbabwe, Eastern Transvaal and Southern Mozambique.

Habitat: Bushveld to desert.

Habits: Occur in flocks of 30-40 birds when not breeding. Up to 600 birds may gather at waterholes in desert regions.
Adults can run at speeds of 50-60 km/h, sometimes with wings held out for balance. Males perform elaborate displays during courtship and distraction when breeding.

Food: Grass, berries, seeds, succulent plants, insects and small reptiles.

It is the power if lens, green and two brown big birds in a beautiful composition very sharp shot from distance nice frame and well done..
