ooh look at them!! Last year we had a lot in our backyard, but this year I did not see any.
Like the focus on your picture. It is a crowdy, but that is the charm.
Well done

Most interesting 3 photos you have posted here.
It is truly a toad plage :)
I like everyone of them, this one is great, the one with your hand gives a very nice size comparison, and the "Exodus" is the one I like most (I dont think the quality is bad).
Really TN stuff, thanks for sharing your experience with us.
Hi Monika!
Superb post! Looks like end of the world with frogs falling from heaven etc. :-) Your picture is very good, especially moment with two small 'fighters'. Workshop pictures are also great - I like your hand full of toads - nightmare for 90% of girls :-) Good story, perfect TN post. I miss only one thing - landscape picture of river and your hunting grounds.

Toadsville?
Nice shot Monika, it's a good shot. The workshops are great too, I've never seen so many toads in one spot. Well done.

Hi Monika,
Interesting shot that shows effectively how may toad you are going to have! As they are useful creatures you must be glad: you'll have less mosquitoes. A very good composition to emphasize crowd.
The dark aspect of the shot transmits a sinister sensation, related -perhaps- with the fact that you are not a big fan of them; a brighter photo would give us a better inclination to the toads, :-)

Hi Monika,
Great title and an interesting capture.
Very good job of it under low-light conditions..I like the interaction I see between the two frogs, left front..
Very well done.

Hello Monika, excellent post with an interesting composition. Colors and brightness are perfect. Very good job, Didier.
Hi Monika!
Lovely little toads...and its nice they are soo many...good for mother nature :)
I also like the WS photos. Any idea on the ID? i really can't say for sure...thay are so small - some even have a bit of what was once their tail.
Anyway, great work again and TFS!

What a determined pile of toads struggling for a place on the top! Doesn't that reflect a bit on us human beings, Monika?
You have worked hard to shoot this image and you deserve the credit for making it worth its while.
Thanks for sharing it.

Hello Monika,
interesting series you posted here and in the workshop.
This shot is very nice great POV and DOF. I especially loke the one with the hand, it really gives a wonderful comparison scale.
Thank you for posting.

Hi Monika,
You're right, they are cute little things. Considering the poor light it's a great shot, I love the deep blue and low light in the BG. Good flash exposure as well, no glare.
I looked at the workshop pictures, amazing. I used to go to a pond when I was a kid that had a lot of tadpoles and newts, but I've never seen so many little toads before, just an amazing sight.
Great note too, excellent post.
Cheers,
Adrian

Hi Monika,
Great shot. Excellent sharp details with well exposed colours. Good lighting and well composed. Very well done and TFS. I haven't actually seen on toads or frogs this year in my area, so perhaps you my share.

Bonjour Monika!
Félicitations pour cette belle composition. L'effet de masse a un impacte certain et le focus est très bien réalisé.
Merci pour l'envoie.

How cute, especially seeing how small they are (in the excellent WS photos), but it must be a bit of a worry having to walk through them! How big do they get and where will they go? When will you get your pond back?
Great show and so interesting Monika, thank you

Hi Monika,
Excellent capture on this crowded rock. Toads on top of Toads! Nice colors and detail. I think the shallow DOF look good here and keeps you focused on the guys in front. Nice shot!

Wow, really impressive these many cuties !
I like how they nudge one another, like small kids ! Your second WS picture is impressive too. It seems like toad's paradize, no predators in your small pond, it's like heaven. As for the main picture I like your composition, the dark blue background comes perfectly well with the golden brown coloured froggies. I much like your flashwork, sometimes you say you prefer natural light, but here you master the lighting perfectly with soft and warm shadows : the three froggies look like actors on a scene the light fainting to the rear!
Thanks for showing ! Patrick

Witaj,
Znakomita gromadka :-)
Umiejetnie ja pokazalas (jak zawsze :-))

This photo is just Great Monika, Great composition and DOF which concentrates on the 3 in the foreground but shows the group behind as well.
The whole post is just fascinating, though, the workshop shots are amazing, I've never seen so many toads in one place, is that unusual? I expect most of them will become food for passing birds ;)
Then there's the fact that you mention your 40x120m 'pond'. I'm so envious ;)
Thanks a lot for this wonderful post.

wow, it´s the frog-plague! *g*
funny, i had something like this here, too,
but there weren´t that many.
excellent capture(s), monika, showing this amazing "event"! :-)
i really like your "hand full of toads",
i guess not many people would have done that.
terrific job & story, thorsten.

This year you have plagues of the frogs and dragonflies! What a plagued place you live :-) Very interesting shot and the moment! It really seems that two ones are fighting! But i prefer the crowded group focused! That scene interesting too! Love that blue as a bg! and very amazing ws especially the "Tiny toads leaving water" ! Great contribution!
Thank you!

I had to laugh at this as my children brought me home a present one day earlier in the summer... a jar full of frogspawn. Having dutifully installed the frogspawn into a suitable container they lovingly tended the resulting tadpoles, cleaning out the tank and changing the water every now and then, feeding the tadpoles who seemed to develope a taste for plain boiled rice! One weekend we went away for a couple of days... and when we came back my kitchen looked rather like your photo!
Your photography is as brilliant as ever...

Cute toad tribe, your picture shows the mass quantity that this animal can produce. Very nice capture Monika. While down in Peru I noticed the packed water puddles full of tadpoles from the toad population their numbers where in the thousands an incredible site. :)
