The Egiptian Mongoose in Israel it is common in the Mediterranean region, and in the oases along the coast of the Dead Sea and the Jordan River, and in the northern Arava and Northern Negv.
Mongooses are social animalas, living in polygamous families. Theyare omnivorous, feeding ona large variety of animalas. They are resistant to some extent to snake venom. Mass 3 kg. |

Well caught!
I like the attentive pose just on the edge of this earth pile. Seems like he's just coming out of a protected place to find some sunshine. Low placed sunlight is an asset to put this critter in evidence. The neck is a bit overexposed, but this is easy to correct in PS. Interesting contribution, Eyal.

Hi Eyal
I always like your pics, because I nearly always see something not so common. Don't get me wrong, I love ellies, lion etc, but the small things really facinate me, because they are so difficult to see, firstly, and then to shoot.
I grew up where we often saw small things, but generally, they were running to get away from us humans. Therefore, getting the shot of this guy was already GOOD. I think the scan aggrevated the light on the neck. Keep them comming.
PS one of these day, I will post "our" fox - we have only one true fox in SA.
