Hi Monika!
Lovely capture. I like composition with leaf and butterfly floating in space very much. Also colours are superb.
Speckled Woods are very common in Botanic Garden, especially in Spring time. I captured many of them around forests, on sunny glades. As you wrote - they're rather shy, but has got very strong territorial instinct - always come back to same leaf or twig. Also - they're always attacking other butterfly which fly close to theirs territory. Very interesting subject and I'm glad that now you can capture it :-)

Wonderful ! I was sure that you will manage well the 350D, and here we can admire a new smart composition. The warm colors similar on the butterfly and on the pleasant background, and only a leaf contrasting, it works very well. Exposure, sharpness and DOF are also excellent.

Very beautiful shot, Monika!
To be perfectly honest right now, what i like most of you shots are the notes about how you use your new equipment :) And that's only beacuse i also want to buy a 350D and right now i'm learning all about it...either way i can.
Anyeay, the picture in very good, with nice sharp details, good colors, great POV with wings wide openned. Maybe a very bit too dark, but still a super shot.

What a wonderful picture of this butterfly. You have caught it and presented it very well indeed and it is so very nicely done. I often take pictures like this on my 75-300mm lens, it allows you not to disturb the insect/flower and gets a great DOF.

Hey Monika, your shots getting dark and dark! What is it going, you're a new graduate, i would hope lightly, sunny pictures from you! But you know no matter for me, i like moody. Great composition with that leaf and the light on the butterfly! 1 meter!!! Ok, easy work well then, but i have to be close friend with my subjects still.

it's a beauty Monika,

Another excellent composition, only a leaf with the butterfly. The Bg is similar to your last post but works very well. maybe a little bit of excess of yellowish tones, but could be the natural illumination, I don´t know.

Hi Monika,

Another beautiful shot. I think your learning curve with the dSLR is complete, you've adapted very well. I told you so :-) Wonderful simple composition framed against that beautiful warm chocolate background, a very artistic shot I think. Great exposure and warm light, lovely detail and great framing. Excellent work. If I was really in a nit-picking mood I might say that the DOF could be deeper as there is some fall-off towards the tip of the leaf, but that really is a minor point and all that would be needed to make this picture perfect in my opinion.

I really think you've moved up a gear or two since you got your dSLR, what you've produced so far is outstanding.

Very nice composition and subtle lighting creates a pleasant effect. Well done Monika. I like the original, I think the workshop creates too much distortion and detracts from the image. :)

Beautiful picture Monika. Dofand pov is spot on. The colours are great. Great handling of light - even it looks a little dark but it works great here. The composition in a portrait frame is very good.
