[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
One of the few dragonflies I have seen this year, they seem to be in short supply, we can but hope for an influx from the contient to bost the numbers in a late migration.
This female I found in my back garden warming her self on a cane in the early morning light.
This the largest of the British dragonflies Anax imperator the abdomen is upto61mm long and the hind wing is 51mm from hinge to tip making this over 100mm or 4inches acrossthe wing ends. The male is easy to spot in his bright metalic Blue body the female though is draber being mainly green with bluey hints on the abdomen instead of the eletric blue of the male.
Taken as I said in the backgarden and I had to use our wheely bin to act as a surport while I took as many shots as I could while she was still warming up.
hope you like her

Wow amazing details and s great POV. Nice BG too

Hello Robert
Excellent shot and great details of this dragonfly.
But did you crop the original photo, because of the grainy background and the size?
Nevertheless it is a great macro photo.
Very well done and thank you for sharing.
Greetings Jan-arie

Hello Robert!
Great pov here! Did you use flash on this one? if you used flash here, it could be vivid and more detailed also. i saw the reflections on the eye and some places which made me tought you used flash, but the details and pale colours made me suspicious about the flash. There are noisy bg also. But still different and beautiful shot it is. i'm asking you, because with this pov and with flash, you should get great details and colours.

Hi Robert,
Wondeful macro with the best in details, color, pov and compositon. Very good job!
Josť M.

an excellent sharp and detailed photo.

What a fantastic macro, Rob! The eyes are particularly slimy looking, LOL. I love your composition and POV.

P.S. Can we get a "lake" category on TN? We're not close to the sea here in Atlanta, and I just returned from Lake Como with stunning scenery that I'm having to file under "mountain." Thanks!
