Hi all,

This is my 100th post, TN has been a great learning experience for me and has helped me a lot in understanding and appreciating this great form of art (Nature photography). I have a huge list to thank, but just to make it short (Thanks fellow trekkers of TN).

This is Common Five Ring (Ypthima baldus)
This common butterfly can be found in secondary growth and open grassy areas around the fringes of the nature reserves. Often in flight, even on overcast days, the Common 5-Ring is believed to feed on Gramineae (grasses).
The typical yellow-ringed black ocelli is a distinguishing feature of the various species in the Ypthima family. The pair of rings at the tornus of the hindwing is counted as one. The total number of the rings counted thus give this species its common name.
The butterfly has a rather weak flight and generally stays close to the ground.
Family : Nymphalidae
SubFamily : Satyrinae
Common Name : Common Five Ring

Hallo Goutham,
congratilation to your 100th posting just of a butterly family which I am particularly interested in, the Satyridae. Often not spectacular in colours, they nevertheless show delicate colour patterns including the characteristic ocelli. The specimen shown is a little bit worn - that's natural, but is presented in excellent sharpness.
Peter

Hello Goutham,
my congratulations to your 100th posting! You have sent an impressive collection of butterfly wildlife observation with a distinctive artistic touch, and this posting fits well into your collection that hopefully will continue to grow.
There are pleasantly soft colours in this well composed image showing fine details a pretty but unspectacular butterfly that is active on an overcast day.
According to my LCD screen, background might profit from some noise removal.
Thank you! Best regards,
Peter

Hi Goutham,,
Great close up shot of this butterfly. Sharp, clear, with great details. Nice blurry BG. Excellently captured and very well composed. Look like it has some broken parts at bottom wing.
