[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I could go on a little longer on how the storm would or would not develop in hail, rain and lightning storm, but it just didn't. Too many different cells developed and most of the enery was gone. I was left with a ominous dark sky and a beautiful sun, which was at this point still above the storm clouds.

Tech talk: Hand held. Shot in JPEG. No crop, just a touch on the levels and on saturation.

More than a storm it seems to me a beautiful landscape portrait. Lovely and soft colors and a delightful light. I miss rains and stroms!!

This is wonderful ! I love the soft colors and the beautiful light. Excellent composition and POV too. The sky really looks threatening, and I love the atmosphere this dark sky gives to your picture. Very well done !

Wow...This is really nice Niek. The soft color is lovely as is the atmosphere. I like the way the perception of distance is achieved through overlap and dimenishing values. Keeping the horizon line low really emphasizes the ominous sky. I half expect to see a bolt of lightning flash from it! Framing is effective.

What a great atmosphere you have created. I love the light here Niek and those layers with the mountains are excellent.

I've had a quick play with the image, hope you don't mind. Made it more of a panorama and increased the contrast, reduced the brightness. - no saturation changes honest!

Hello Niek,
One of my favourite situations, with backlight combined with haze or humidity!
As always there are created beautiful layers by the hills and mountains, and all merging into a wonderful composition!

Hi Niek,
i thought i would choose something a little older from you to critique, and i found this beauty lurking way back here in your archives!
I love this sky!!! It's the kind of light that doesn't happen very often and you have to be on your toes to do it justice, which you have here. Colours, exposure and composition are all superb...very well done.
