This is another photo taken of the the same storm cell that slowly perished without any heavy rain, lightning or hial. But it perished with beauty when the sun transformed the humit air in to a soft orange glow. This is a photo when the sun was still above the cloud formation and pierced through the edges of the cell on to the foothills of the Rockies.

Tech talk: Shot in RAW and converted to JPEG. I only changed the white balance and added some saturation and sharpness. For the people who are contemplating to switch to shooting in RAW, look at this photo and my previous upload and see the difference in color and intensity. Eventhough this one was taken a few minutes later and my POV is more towards the south.

I set my camera to -1EV for a richer atmosphere and to get a better shutterspeed since this photo was made hand held.

Great colours and shapes of the mountains. I like the other picture also very much, but this one is just a little bit more special if you asked me.
Great job and I think excellent choice to shoot this one in RAW!

TFS greetz Kristies

Good to see you trying RAW more often - the colours are so much better. I had done you a WS on the otherone simply becuase of the lack of intensity in that one, but don't need to on this one.

Nicely done Niek.

Nicely done, Niek. Great composition framed by the dark ground below and the dark clouds above. Nice details in the siloutte. I like the layers revealed in the mountains. And the limited color pallete is really pleasant. I like it this way a lot.

What an amazing colour. Lovely composition with the subtle shapes

Hallo Niek,
Great photo with a lot of atmosphere.
greetings Jan-arie

Hello Niek, excllent colors, bg, POV DOF perfect details, excllent POV excellent Saturated colors, very nice work, TFS Kyle

Nice drama here Niek. The dark cloud above with the rich golden hues is very striking. The teeny telephone poles and irrigation lines in the distance really gives a sense of how puny our man-made objects are in comparison to the immensity of these storms.

This is dramatic, Niek, and the colors certainly are more intense. I am so confused. Now in which of the two photos is the color more accurate as you remember it to be? I know I am not understanding RAW ...probably at all.

I do like the silhouetted FG on this one and the clouds above that look like they are still showering. The color looks almost like a dust storm. I got a photo of one of those on the way home from the Tetons. I'll post it one of these days.

Thanks for sharing

Evelynn : )

Hello Niek, yes its a fine capture with great colour and mood. The silhouetted horizon builds a foundation for the composition. Very striking image, well done.

Hi Niek,
Very quick visit. great shot.
Thanks for posting, have a wonderful week.

This is simply beautiful. And what an education regarding RAW. Really like the lines showing the depth of the different mountains. Thanks

Hi Niek,
This looks excellent. I really like the warm gold tones in this one.
Very dramatic looking scene. They don't call it "Big Sky Country" for nothing!
