As I am not sure on the id. of this mushroom so no note about it this time, some general information.

What are Mycorrhizas?

Mycorrhizas are highly evolved, mutualistic associations between soil fungi and plant roots. The partners in this association are members of the fungus kingdom (Basidiomycetes, Ascomycetes and Zygomycetes) and most vascular plants. In the mycorrhizal literature, the term symbiosis is often used to describe these highly interdependent mutualistic relationships where the host plant receives mineral nutrients while the fungus obtains photosynthetically derived carbon compounds. Mycorrhizal associations involve 3-way interactions between host plants, mutualistic fungi and soil factors.

Members of the fungus kingdom obtain nutrition from many sources, including decomposition of organic substrates, predation and parasitism, and involvement in mutualistic associations. Many soil fungi are saprobes with the enzymatic ability to digest organic substrates of varying degrees of complexity, but some subsist on very low levels of organic or inorganic substrates. Mycorrhizal fungi are a major component of the soil microflora in many ecosystems, but usually have limited saprophytic abilities. Mycorrhizal fungi are considered to have many important roles in natural and managed ecosystems.

I found this info in this excellent www about micorrhizas.

Hope you like!

Hola Felipe,

It's nearly that time again. Now that the sun has died down I'm really looking forward to Autumn.
This shot is great. Perfect low pov and composition.
Great detail and exposure.
Thanks for posting.

Hi Felipe,
beautiful - and with the best headline you could find for this high growing funghi.
Again so pretty with your low POV, I always wonder how you make it, thanks

Ricardo

Looks like this one keeps on growing and growing! Isn't nature amazing? These Mycorrhizas sound so interesting - and everything around it has its uses and helps in its progress.
Good shot of your Skycraper Felipe and Cristina, another well displayed image for us to see and learn about. TFS

Hi C&F gang :-)

I almost believe in title :-) From this POV it really looks like big skyscraper. As always perfect DOF and use of flash. Green BG made from leaves looks great. Old Sony at its best [and photographers too, of course ;-)].
