Hello Varahram!
I like your shot a lot because the bear's pose and expression do show that it doesn't feel the way it should. Last year at the Bronx ZOO I took a shot of a polar bear which looked the way yours does: sad and bored. I guess for some animals life in captivity is much harder than for the others. Regards,

Hi Varahram
This sums up to me all that is wrong with the way animals are treated in this world. I'm assuming this animal is in a small enclosure with a small pool to dip himself in. It's tragic when you think that in the wild he would have the entire polar ice cap as his domain, and might swim 50 miles in a day, and here he is just a prisoner of human curiosity. People say that animals born in captivity don't know any different, I really don't buy that, I think it's something people say to make themselves feel better. It's a really sad shot, but a great capture as you've portrayed his emotions and hopelessness so well. Excellent work.
