Walkin' on Water

[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Snapped this Atlantic puffin taking off from the water near Machias Seal Island. MSI is a tiny island about 10 miles off the coast that is home only to a science station and a lighthouse staffed by the Canadian military. It is a nesting site for thousands of puffins, razorbills, murres, and terns. We were in a small skiff drifting without the motor on when I took this. The ocean was so calm this day we were joking that it should be called "Lake Atlantic".
If you like this photo, I'll have more from Machias Seal Island. |

An excellent first performance, Kirby Adams.
Nice composition and point of view.
I should had left more space in front of the bird but it is personnal.
I wish you the most cordial welcome on TN.
In the pleasure to admire your next posts and to read your notes and critics.
Thank you for sharing.
Hi Kirby! Wow! This is the first time I have ever seen a photo of a Puffin taking off out of the water, and I love it! The wake he is leaving shows how he is ploughing through the sea, and I love the determined look he has on his face. Great wing action. Wonderful capture!
