This is the upperside to the one I posted yesterday, someone said it was an owl butterfly, but I don't know, can anyone give me more info?
Taken at a butterfly farm where you can get up close and compose the shot. This POV helps with the focusing and better DOF, a classic shot for identification, but I like how the light reflects off the wings and did'nt need a flash or any PP.

Hello Sue!
You have taken a high quality shot of a Morpho butterfly of which there are several species, all from South and Central America. Yours is Morpho peleides. Morpho wings used to be used for jewellery, using glass to cover parts of their shiny wings. As the blue colour of the wing scales is produced by light refraction and not pigment, it does not fade.

Hi Sue,
I love the deep blue colors that you captured here with much clarity. THis is beautiful. Nice work.

Your exposure has accurately captured the beautiful colour of this butterfly. Good composition. My eye keeps being drawn to that light flower top left, though. Could be cloned out?

Great shot of this beauty! I agree with Argus - it is a Blue Morpho/morho peleides, range Mexico to COlombia & Venezuela, and Trinidad.
