They live not in North - and the West-Netherland, where I live. So I had the honour to meet this one, in the Belgium Gouvy.

They lives to the edge of heath, and poor grass countries. On all foodless sand grounds the green one occurs. A rather home fast type. It's family of the blue ones (LYCAENIDAE) The status of the green one is not threatened. The fly time: by the end of April - mid- august, especially 1 - 15 June. Flies always 1 generation.

The caterpillar are up to 20 mm. Body and covers clearly yellowish greenness with slanting yellow lines with small hair. The caterpillar grows in the spring. Headstock, already virtually the butterfly entirely with in this developed, they overlives the winters in a straw bed.

The food plants are: holly, bilberry, and heather.

The characteristics are: The butterfly is unmistakable. wing length plm. 14 mm. By old butterflies the green colour on the lower part of the wings has partly disappeared.

It was for me a honour to meet this little one. And I must run for it, because every time I was there with my camera, for a shot , he flys away. But at last, but not least, I was lucky to made this one. I like it, and I hope you will like it to.

Pragtige vlinder, Jaap, mooi komposisie en skerp diagonaal. Die wit randjie om sy vlerke lyk asof hy uitrafel.

Opnieuw schitterend macro foto Jaap, die echte herkenbare "carper" kleuren, in uw grootste stijl, de houding en de cropping is perfect Jaap.

I've never saw this one before. Great colour of wing - green and shinny. But most of all I like its big and dark eye - like alien from sf movie :-) Great composition also. Very good work Jaap!

Jaap, lovely shot. The butterfly has beautiful colors, and, through your job, we can see them well. Nice POV.

Very well done, Jaap.

This critter looks as if someone applied paint to his wings. Very lovely creature and a great macro shot.

Very nice composition, the colours textures are particularly interesting and appealing.

Wonderful butterfly!
Perfect details and sharpness!
5* photo!
I never saw this species in Portugal.

I don't think I've ever seen a green butterfly, very nice.
Really fine detail and exposure is perfect.
To me it feels like the photo should be rotated clockwise, the leaves pointing upwards looks un-natural.

Hi Jaap, Your photo of this green Hairstreak is very nice! I know they are very hard to photograph and your persistence paid off with a beautiful photo. TFS!

How beautiful and well captured.
