[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
My friend here "Hop Along" turned up yesterday at work when I was standing down a plant order in the top yard of our nursery, it was already missing it's left jumping leg, but it still seemed to be able to jump around OK.
It is seen here on a large ornamental grass blade which was about 15mm wide and the body of this insect was over 30mm long, Note the stripey eyes, none of the image in both my books and on Google except for one of a desert locust, but both the colouration's of the body and the fact that we do not get locusts in the UK and this appears to be a juvenile because of the small wings yet to fully develop.
I have lots of other views if you want to see them and it would help you identify it?
thanks for looking and hope you can help.

Nice pic Robert.
I think it's an Anacridium aegyptium larva, probably quite unusual in UK. See a picture of the adult at the following adress:

Best regards.

Hej Robert!
WOW! Teraz wiem dlaczego ten owad nazywa się konikiem. Swietnie wypatrzone. Wyglada jakby pozowal. Doskonale: kadr, osrość i kolory.
Gratuluje i pozdrawiam - Roma

What a courageous one jumping leg on your superb macro ! The composition is smart with the great contrast on black bacground. Colors, exposure, POV, DOF and sharpness are excellent. Nice to see the begining wings. Sorry for ID of this larva...
