I cannot 100% positively ID this large owl, definatelly a Buboidae member. This was one hard to take photograph!!! But was well worth the climb and stalk.
By my research this is a Ketupu, or Buffy's Fish Owl (Bubo ketupu, previously Ketupa ketupu), also known as the Malay Fish/Eagle Owl.
Average size Length 43cm - one wing length 36cm - weight 1290g
Habitat - Woody areas near water
Food Fish - makes shallow dives for surface fish. Also frogs, reptiles, insects, rats, mice, beetles and bats. Will also feed on carrion.
Distribution - From south Burma through the Malayan Peninsula to the western Indonesian Islands.
Breeding - Uses nests of other birds or unlined tree cavity
Other facts - Shelters in dark places by day.

Very spooky mood you have created with your black and white, Radu.
I love the tones and the light in this shot.
Another unusual bird to add to your collection.
Excellent POV with sharp details.
Would love to hear your story of the "climb and stalk". : )

Hi Radu,
Perfect picture.
Regards.

Salut Radu

Verdaderamente me agrada mucho. Saludos desde Mexico. Luis52.

Hello Radu, great shot. You managed the light very well and the details are well seen on the owl. Very well done.

What a fantastic shot Radu. I think this is a really nice capture and composition. I like the dark balance

Hi Radu,
I saw this a while ago when briefly looking through the gallery, but was too short on time to leave a comment. It's a really beautiful shot, the light, textures and almost monochrome quality are fantastic. I think not framing it any tighter and leaving the dark edges was a great decision, it adds a lot to the mood of the shot. Beautiful work, I'll add this to my favourites.
Cheers,
Adrian

Hi Radu! Truly fantastic... I can't understand how you exposed in these conditions so well... Maybe late to say but TFS! :)

Best regards,
Andor
