Brown on brown -
A Garden Spider (Araneus diadematus) ready to attack
in its net against the wall of a garden-shed.

******************
The European garden spider (Araneus diadematus, cross
spider) is a very common and well-known orb-weaver
spider in Western Europe. Araneus diadematus also
lives in parts of North America, in a range extending
from New England and the Southeast to the Northwestern
United States and adjacent parts of Canada.

Individual spiders' colouring can range from extremely
light yellow to very dark gray, but all european
garden spiders have mottled markings across the back
with five or more large white dots forming a cross.
The white dots result from cells that are filled with
guanine, which is a byproduct of protein metabolism.

It is hard to provoke a garden spider to bite - if it
does, the bite is slightly unpleasant and utterly
harmless (unless you're a fly!)

Hi Thor

Great shot of this cool spider!
Excellent pOV, great details especially on its eyes and great flash management. Brown on brown looks really good on this one!

Bravo and TFS

Hi Thorsten,
What I like most here is the great POV.
Well composed with very good detail, DOF and light.
Interesting BG with the faint diagonal lines running through it. Some sensor spots, but that's nit picking :)
Well done & TFS!

El colorido y el POV son los puntos fuertes de esta imagen Thorsten, además de un bien logrado trasfondo.
Siempre es difícil la captura de imágenes de estas pequeñas arañas, pero aquí has obtenido un buen resultado.
Saludos... Ricardo

The coloring and POV are the strong points of this image Thorsten, besides a well achieved background.
It is always difficult the capture of images of these small spiders, but here you have obtained a good result.

Wow, spooky looking little fella :-) Good composition and another perfect background, the DOF, colour and lines make it so I think. Excellent detail on this Spider, he looks quite pale whereas I think they are usually darker over here (I've only ever seen dark ones anyway). Soemthing else I noticed about this is that there is no flash shadow, it really adds a lot to the image. Great work again!
Cheers,
Adrian
