This happy picture was taken on the same day I shot my previous post, looking at which is pretty depressing. Why the heck can't all the animals be vegetarian? Having said that I should admit that I love lamb chops. I like this image because to take it I didn't use my usual monopod and had to hold the camera really high so my elbows couldn't rest on the chest. The air wasn't really motionless, so I didn't expect satysfying result. I cropped the picture a bit on the left to partially get rid of out of focus bright element piece of which you still can see. Otherwise straight out of the camera. When I tried to brighten the butterfly the flower was starting to lose detail so I left the exposure the way it is. Also, I don't think the noise is that bad in this picture and I really like original shots whenever possible.

Hi Mark,
This is very well done. I tried to photograph some 2 days ago; I have some pictures but the lightning conditions were very bad. You succeed very well! Details and very sharp and this composition is just beautiful! I love the texture on its wings, we can almost feel it. Thanks for this nice moment. TFS,

bonjour mark

Hi Mark

Another splendid macro work from you!...and she's a beauty!
This butterfly is indeed very beautiful and you managed to obtain a superb contrast between its colors and the ones of the flower and BG. Also the perfect DOF really makes it stand out. The super sharp details, excellent exposure and very good POV all add to sum up a great composition.

Bravo and TFS

PS: i also like the funny note :))

Hello Mark,

What a remarkable picture of this lovely monarch! The lovely green blurry bg compliments so well the insect and the flower. You got a great pov and the colors looks very natural too. I like the diagonal of the flower too. You mastered also greatly the exposition in order to see all the different tones of white, orange and black! Great picture and TFS,

Saludos... Ricardo

Almost a perfect macro my friend.
Excellent coloring very marked even the whites and blacks.
Very good DOF and focus with appropriate background and a framing very pleasant.
Almost... because the flower appears slightly saturated, but the general composition is very nice.
Greetings... Ricardo

Hi Mark!
You are the second one for me today (after Tim) to say it is better to leave the original picture as it is, instead of messing with it in the PP process.
You justify your contention in this image. It is a perfect shot with superb focus, sharpness and colors. The BG is noise free and the flower looks good to me as it is.
Thanks for sharing it.

Hi Mark,
Beautiful shot with excellent POV and very bright and vivid colours. What noise is visible, appears more like film grain which [in my modest opinion] makes the BG very attractive.
