This picture was taken in the vicinity of my previous post, 'Phnom Krom'(detail of this place is on my yesterday post).

Two days ago I posted a picture of 'Jatropha Gossypiifolia' which has toxin property. Today post, blue morning glory, has halucinating property.

Family :Convolvulaceae
Genus :Ipomoea
Species :violacea

COMMON NAMES: Morning Glory; Heavenly Blue Morning Glory; Tlilitzin; Badoh Negro(seeds)

Ipomoea violacea is a common ornamental vine with heart-shaped leaves and bright white, pink, or purple flowers and small, black seeds that contain LSA. Because of its fast growth and prodigious seed production, many jurisdictions consider it an invasive weed plant. It has a long history of use in Central to Southern Mexico.

The seeds of many species of morning glory contain d-lysergic acid amide, ergoline alkaloids better known as LSA. Seeds of I. violacea and R. corymbosa are used as hallucinogens. They are about 5% to 10% as potent as LSD. To discourage morning glory's use as hallucinogenic drugs, some commercial seed producers have started treating seeds with a chemical that will not wash off. This chemical has been known to cause vomiting, nausea and abdominal pain. Typically some form of a warning or notice is printed on the package if seeds have been treated.

Morning Glory 'Ipomoea aquatica' is popularly used as a green vegetable especially in East and Southeast Asian cuisines .

What a lovely shade of blue, JC!
Very fine composition, well seen and well shot.
Petunias, I feel, are the distant relatives of this plant which grows as a weed in India too.
I have also taken a couple of raw shots of this flower in India recently which I will share here some day.

Hi Jitti,
Nice macro.Exellent colours and compo.TFS.

Hi Jitti.
This is common subject enough but you managed to create a very nice composition. I like the blur tones and your reflection the beauty of this flowers. Excellent artistic work. TFS and my best regards.

Hi Jitti,
I really like those wonderful white and delicate flowers. This lightning is very special; it almost look like they were lightened with black lights that make them look a bit phosphorescent; as they could glow in the dark :)This POV, composition and details are very well done with good DOF. Thanks,
