[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Black Chinned Hummingbird 3¼ - 3¾ inches - A small hummingbird, male green above with black chin and violet-purple gorget. Female green above with white throat and breast, buff sides and white tipped outer tail feathers. Voice: A low "tup". Found in mountain and alpine meadows, woodlands, canyons with thickets. 2 white eggs in an nest of fluffy plant wool and lichens woven together with spider webs placed in shrub or low tree. Breeds from British Columbia south throughout West to Mexico and central Texas. Winters in Mexico.

A challenge for next year is to see if I can get a good image of the purple gorget seen on the male. One can see the different color in the black throat area here, but no purple. Not a large area like the Rufous or Ruby throat.
