[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Female Rufous Hummingbird as it arrived and settled on my wife's finger.
-4". Male has bright rufous underparts and flanks, iridescent orange-reg throat. Female green above with rufous tinge on rump and flanks and much rufous in tail. Voice: an abrupt high pitched "zeee" and various other thin squealing notes. Found in mountain meadows, forest edges. 2 white eggs in a lichen covered cup of plant down and spiderweb attached to a horizontal branch. Aggressive and bold.
There are reports of these little birds spending the winter months in areas of south western British Columbia where people have kept feeders supplied with nectar.

Very beautiful! So sharp and clear. It looks like the little guy really likes his custom perch...;-)

Thanks for sharing,

Dave

Hi Walter, this is an excellent shot. Lovely details and composition. The only thing I don't like here is the finger, I think it would be good without. However, I'd like to say I'd give my right arm to have it sit on my finger but if that were the case I'd rapidly run out of perches!

Well done.

Walter this really is amazing the trust of this hummer. A quality shot that is recognisably your style of composition. Beautifull detail very nicely done best rgds Necip.

Hi Walter,
excellent details and marvellous colours on this Rufous Hummer in action.
Very surprised to find it tamely resting on your wife's finger, with wings apparently standing still.
Way out of the ordinary, and very pretty.
Thank you! Best regards,
Peter

The details are stunning, as usual.
How do you get them to alight on your wife's fingers?
Just amazing!
Fantastic pose and gorgeous colors.
