[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Pika is a small relative of the Rabbit that inhabits high, rocky areas in North America. They are said to be one of the species worst hit by global warming. I got this one near Medicine lake in Jasper National park. It was stashing some food for the winter, so by slowly moving into the area and waiting I got within 20 feet and got a few shots before the cloud cover got too dense for photography.

Hi Jaap, its my first encounter with a Pika so im surprised to see this rabbit. Its has a high cuteness factor I must say. Nice capture, its a bit soft on the head but overall I like the composition a lot. TFS and teaching. Reina

Hello Jaap, I've never even heard of one of these before so thanks for bringing it to out attention! Lovely intimate portrait, good exposure too. I think it might benefit from a little touch of USM.

Well done.

I've taken a few photos of these critters myself. Patience does reap alot of rewards with these timid creatures. Well done!

Hi Jaap,
what a cute little rabbit you got here,
well composed shot, nice pov, good dof,
colours look well saturated,
the pose of the rabbit is really very good,
tfs & regards

Never hear of this species before, TFS.

Wel captured, though as Paul suggested a little sharpening would have improved the pic. I've done a small workshop to show you the difference.

I can never get close enough to these little fellows to get a good shot. We saw quite a lot of them in Wyoming this fall. In addition to the food they were busily taking to their nests we saw piles of green foilage around the area and couldn't figure out what it was. We thought maybe they spread it out to dry before storing it??????? The OOF foreground is a little distracting to me. one wouldn't lose any of the animal if it were cropped it off. I love his expression and alertness.
