Excellent macro, Jeanmarie!
The magnification level is againf fantastic and the fact that it stayed arround as you got so close is even more amazing.
The details are great here and the natural colors very lovely.
The POV is excellent and the timing - with capturing it while drinking - is great. Looking forward to seeing the next one, too :)
The only nit of this very beautiful shot IMO is the eye of this magnificent Cicada, which is a bit OOF. What apperture did you use? Perhaps a bigger f-stop would have helped that...i don't know if the light permitted it, though ;)
Anyway, Bravo and TFS
Horia

Hola JeanMarie,
a stunning close-up portrait of the cicada. There are so many nice details to study. Interestingly, the eyes of the insect - and that is true for many other insect portraits at TrekNature - do not look sharp although they are sharp: a kind of optical illusion.
Best wishes, Peter
NOTE ADDED:
In the moment I sent my note, horia did the same - interestingly mentioning just the point of the 'non-sharp eye'.

Hi JeanMarie.
You have shared a very skilful executed macro shot. I like great details of this insect, your cropping and composition. Very well done and my best wishes,
Alexei.

you got the body and lost the eye...not a real crit since digi cams can be hard to control on macro and auto focus...
its a top wildlife shot though and you couldnt have gotten closer
full marks
cheers

Hi JeanMarie,
what a close up. It is so close and the details are great. It is a shame about the eye being out of focus but you have still managed to do a good job here.
Regards
Matt.

bonjour jean marie.
une bonne macro,je dirais simplement que la focalisation n'est pas vraiment sur l'oeil.

A fine macro even if the eye is a little out of focus...Interesting note...We don't have this particular species in Texas, that I know of...Fantastic detail and an incredible close, close, close-up...TFS :)
