Often referred to as the Sea Parrot, the Atlantic Puffin's large, colorful, triangular bill makes this species one of the most charismatic seabird. The Puffin nests in variably sized colonies (ranging from just a few pairs, to over 200,000 pairs). A single egg is laid in either a burrow or crevice. Adult Puffins invest much into their lone egg; each is incubated for up to 49 days, followed by a nestling period of 38-44 days. Puffins are also expert swimmers and divers. Using their wings to propel themselves underwater, puffins can dive up to hundreds of feet to catch fish.
This bird was "digiscoped" at the famous Latrabdjar Cliffs in Iceland.

Nice Puffin photo Stephane, fishes in her mouth add value to the photo. May be a little bir contrast would be better.

Bonne photo avec de belle couleurs. Merci pour l'envoi et bonne journée

there are wishlists, and there are wishlists, but this one IS very high on my list, and I hope to just see one when I visit the prodical in the UK. I love these stubby, colourfull little swimmwrs, and the way they use their bills to make kebabs out of the eeels. Very nice post Stephane.
My only nit is that you should ceop a bit more on the bottom, to give more of a mug sho, this will enlarge the frame and the impact. Well done!

Very nice portrait on this Puffin. The color and detail are excellent. Nice clean backround really makes him standout. Nice Job!

Good posting. It's a beautiful bird and the picture shows it. Great details on the eye and beek.

Wow! Magnifique, Stéphane! Quelle superbe prestation. Est-ce de la digiscopie (lunette Swarovski)? Si oui, chapeau! Je mets cette image dans mes favoris tout de suite, de craindre de la perdre. Tout est parfait. (J'aime beaucoup vos autres photos aussi.) Merci de partager.

Good shot with digiscoping. I agree that a little contrast will be better. TFS this little beauty!

oh... this one is so great. And it has a fish in its beak. You're lucky to have taken such a shot. I took lots of pictures of puffins during my trip to Faroe Islands and what I wanted most was a puffin with a fish, but I didn't manage to take such picture (I even didn't manage to see a puffin with a fish!). I'm sooo jeulous ;D and so you get 2 points from me for this one. TFS,
Ewa

Beautiful bird, very sharp details, a wondeful picture. A little more color on the background would have made it even better, but still a fantastic photo, one of my favourites. Well done !

Oh I love this photo..and I am beginging to love these birds! What an expression you got with this photo.. Awesome..thanks for sharing!
