SHIELD OR STINK BUG

I shot this bug in Shimla hills, India, during the rainy season. There were plenty of them on a cluster of leafy weed and most of them were mating. This fellow, by chance, was not ‘engaged’ at the moment I shot it.
My search has led me to believe it is a Shiled or Stink Bug. However, I may be wrong. Any help in narrowing down its exact identity would be welcome.

Shield bug and Stink bug are common names applied to various insects of the Hemiptera order (the "true bugs"), in the Heteroptera suborder. Shield bugs have glands in their thorax between the first and second pair of legs which produce a foul smelling liquid. This liquid is used defensively to deter potential predators and is sometimes released when the bugs are handled carelessly. The stink comes from aldehydes such as CH3 − (CH2)2 − CH = CH − CHO, and is chemically similar to pheromones. The nymphs are similar to adults, except smaller and without wings, the nymphs also have stink glands.
The nymphs and adults have piercing mouthparts which most use to suck sap from plants, although some eat other insects. When they group in large numbers they can become significant pests.
The superfamily Pentatomoidea consists of generally shield-shaped true bugs.
Other species that resemble shield bugs are found in the Coreoidea superfamily.

Hello Ram,
Elle est sublime cette photo.
L'insecte est bien mis en valeur, quelle belle symétrie, les deux points noirs et les dessins sur le corps.

Hello Ram,
nice point of view and capture of this colourful bug. Sharpness, particularly on the head, could be a little higher. Superb natural colours.
Best wishes, Peter

Agradable composición de colores, los del insecto, la hoja y el fondo oscuro.
Muy buena captura Ram.
Saludos, JL.
;-)

What a great POV of this pretty bug, Ram. : )
The light seems a bit bright,
causing the colors to look washed out.
I tried a workshop to practice my PP skills.
Hope you don't mind.
TFS. : )

Hi Ram,
It looks really a little bit like the shieldbugs we have here. This bug has a very nice colour and funny black spots. Like an uniforme!
I wonder if somebody can identify it.

Good macro Ram with accurate DOF and POV.

I like it a lot: composition, POV, DOF, focus, sharpness, lighting, background, notes and workshop of Manyee.

I like it: colors, framing.

I don't like it: nothing.

Nice shot, personally I had preferred a framing with the insect more below... but it is only my point of view.
Greetings... Ricardo

Hello Ram,

Excellent picture of this little hemiptera... Good details and the colors looks very natural to me... The green enhances so much the insect too. Nice shot and TFS,

Michel

Hello Ram,
This shot, among the many many photos in your gallery, really
stands out! I think it must be the eyes. ;)

Great detail, DoF, good control of glare on the hard shell wings. No overdone colours here..., unlike the WS. Tfs, J.
