[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This was one of my first butterfly pictures taken with a digital camera in 2005. I think it has not the quality which I can achieve today due to learning much in praxis and by the support of TrekNature-people.
I post this picture because it shows a butterfly species which has rather local distribution and is rarely presented at TrekNature.
Species identity:
- Chazara briseis (male)
- family: Nymphalidae
- subfamily: Satyrinae
From South Tyrol several discrete populations are known. The specimen shown here is from the 'Tartscher Bühel', a sun-exposed hill with a dry and hot micro-climate.

Hi Peter,
i'm not agree with you, this one has great quality, no nit i saw on this one. Sharpness and pov are great, the brown tones on the blurry bg look wonderful and the thistles are nice gifts to this beautiful composition.
Thank you for this great post!
Ersin

Nice shot, good detail, could be a tad sharper, good color. Appropriate background that adds to the overall image.

Hello Peter,
Thanks for digging into your archives to show us a satyrid that I have never seen in the wild. Despite what you say this shot has a good standard in most respects and I appeciate seeing it.
I believe the English name is the Hermit.
Best wishes, Ivan

Hallo Peter,

Anne
