This is a very nice bird! I say you where very lucky to come across this bird. You captured the picture when the bird's eye was looking at the camera. Very smart.

Nice co-incidence. I just posted a Grouse which I shot in the Canadian Rockies. I think I will be updating my page before too long, and identify it as a Blue Grouse.

am a biologist for the newly-established Calimani National Park in Romania's northeastern Carpathian Mountains. We are developing an educational nature trail in our Park - the first of its kind in Romania - and will highlight the capercaillie on one of our information panels.
