"Terrestrial cuttlefish?" U-turn...

[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Here we have a Gastropod on a piece of plywood.

Global warming seems to have thrown off a lot of our weather. As a result of that we see surprises in the behavior of little creatures. Yesterday I picked up a piece of plywood that was decaying on the ground. Rather then it being frozen and ice-covered it was wet amd muddy... and scrambling thru that mud was a small slug. Time to try out my macrolens. While I was focussing on lil Slugger here, it made a U-turn.

When I first saw it, it was abt 1cm long... Then when it moved it stretched to about one inch.

If anyone know what that hole on its side is all about I would love to hear!
The markings reminded me of a cuttlefish, albeit one out of its element.

Notice the orange-brown coloration. A shot that I have greatly admired is here.

More info about "slugs" and des "limaces" as well as "slakken" and "Schnecken", also "babosa".

What a great POV on that slug, Jay.
I think the hole you see is the "respiratory pore".
I also like that golden light on it.
An interesting shot.

Interesting shot of this lil "guy".
Slugs are intriguing, to say the least!
Gastropods have fascinated me with their
preference for moist and cool spots to
"hang out", and it is often surprising to
find them where one doesn't often think
of their habituating.
Here in the Pacific Northwest, we often
see them out and about in our gardens early
in the day, but being a wet climate, they
can be found almost any time of the day in the winter, spring and fall.

on your Fuji!!
