Camouflage Techniques
---------------------
I have just started trying to take images of birds and wildlife in general and one of my first lessons was in the techniques of camouflage. The main idea is to somehow disguise yourself as not being a "Human Being" (got a reputation for being predators!!) in order to get close.
Some of the different techniques are :
- Within a permanent enclosure or viewing station.
- Portable enclosure (Tent, Car etc..)
- Clothing

In this case I used my car to get fairly close and then after turning the engine off took the image resting my camera on the window ledge. Its amazing how they do let you get closer despite you being within a "bright red noisy thing"!

Well there goes my first....hope you like.

Hello , good sharpness and composition but little oversaturated colors .

David,

Nice shot! I too am just starting to take bird pictures and I too have used my truck as a blind. One day i put out some seeds and sat in the car in the front yard - i live in the country - and just waited for the birds to come to me.

Keep up the good work!

Cheers,

Dean

Hi David

A wonderful capture here with this cure kingfisher!
The pose here on that streight stick is great and you captured it nicly. The colors are also lovely and well saturated, the details nice and sharp and the lighting great.
I also like the DOF you chose here, isolating the subject rather well from the BG.
The composition is really wonderful and i liked how you left plenty of space in the direction the bird is looking.
Very well done!

Bravo and TFS

Hello David,
This is a very nice capture. I'm glad that you are now trying bird’s pictures. Your note is very interesting but I must say that I never used these kinds of tricks but it is useful to know. I like this POV, composition and great colors. I don't know if there was a branch near its legs but it seems a little strange. Anyway this is a very good first try and I'm looking for many others ;) This BG is very nice; well done! Thanks,
Claudine

Hi David,

Beautiful capture and well done on the composition. Excellent work.

Mike

Hello David,
This is great as for a first one! The bird was posing you really nicely. I like the POV and framing too. The details are good and colours look nice too. The BG is a little bit busy and maybe it would be worth to blur it stronger next time using f5.6 for example.
Overall, you did really good job on this one!
